Saturday Morning D&D
Goldsprings was a gold rush town that grew to a city as more people arrived. It’s formed by a river that runs out of the High Mountain, a Dwarven strongmine (mixture of stronghold, city and mine). The river was laden with gold dust and minimal nuggets that flowed out of the mountain. This flushed the town with people looking to get rich. There is however a huge class division between those who found their riches and those who haven’t.
The city itself is cut into the side of the mountain. The rich have manors up high with ocean views, their inhabitants wearing fine silks and smelling of exotic spices. As you descend the houses get smaller and more disheveled, as do the clothes of the population before becoming a shanty town filled with rag wearing and frail prospectors. The city is run by the Lord’s Union, their word is law as they are the ones who pay for the “city guard”, a group of mercenaries at best who do as their paycheck dictates.
Children of both riches and rags are told stories of a river of gold that will one day descend from the mountainside and wash over the town bringing fortune and good health to all those deserving, while those found wanting will be punished by the mountain giants for their misdeeds.
